The suspension bridge with a pipeline over the Křivonoska pond is one of the objects on the route of the heat pipeline from the Temelín nuclear power plant to České Budějovice. The heat produced by the cooling of the nuclear towers in the plant through the pipeline crossing covers more than 50% of the production consumption for the entire city. The bridge structure was designed as a suspension structure, supported by a pair of V-shaped pylons with a steel bridge deck suspended on steel suspension cables anchored to reinforced concrete pylons placed on the foundations of axes 2 and 3 and then embedded in the anchor blocks.
By the original concept, the pylons were designed as prefabricated structures, but the land did not meet the load conditions induced by the heavy machinery during installation.
The bridge deck in the longitudinal direction draws an elevation arc with a constant radius of R = 930m, the bridge deck system is composed of a horizontal truss structure with girders. The actual stiffening of the structure is achieved by a pair of prestressing cables which are routed horizontally between the anchor blocks. The reinforced concrete pylons are formed by a pair of I-section columns of 18.2 m in length, at an angle of 34g to each other and deflected 3.76g from the vertical in the longitudinal direction. The top of the pylon is fitted with anchor bolts for connecting the main load-bearing hangers.
