Detailed characteristics

The reconstruction of the station on metro line A is being carried out under the direction of the general contractor Strabag a.s. The subway access is currently not handicap-accessible and, following the client’s long-term plan, the modernization of each station throughout the city, including Jiřího z Poděbrad, is being carried out gradually. The excavation work has started already in autumn 2021.

The access corridor between shafts S1 and S2 is being designed in respect to the surrounding built-up area, especially the Catholic Church of the Sacred Heart in the park, and during construction it is necessary to regularly inspect its structural behaviour and eliminate any possible vibrations or degradation of the load-bearing structure.
The barrier-free kiosk is located in the southern part of Jiřího z Poděbrad Square, where the escalator access to the transfer corridor will be located.

Technical specifications

The station is a three-bay embossed station with one exit. It is connected to the surface vestibule by an escalator tunnel with three levels of escalators. The depth of shaft S1 is approximately 50 m below ground level. The reinforced concrete lining is made of tybinks. The building consists of an open shaft adjacent to the first circular shaft S1, which is connected to the UPCH transfer corridor by a throat.
